Ed Sheeran reveals why Eminem labels Kendrick Lamar as 'the best'

Of all people to reveal one fo the coolest stories in the Hip Hop scene, you would not expect that person to be Ed Sheeran. In an interview on the Zach Sang show, Sheeran explains the story of how Eminem tested Kendrick to see if he had a ghostwriter, the result of that turned a piece of magic from the latter:

"I heard a very cool story about Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. Eminem heard that Kendrick Lamar was the best rapper and he invited him to the studio to get him on a song. He arrived and Kendrick came with all his mates and Eminem said, ‘I just want you in the studio, just you on your own. And then my engineer is gonna come in and then record you doing it. But your mates aren’t allowed in".

Eminem had called Kendrick into the studio, without any of his boys, because he wanted to make sure that Kendrick didn't have any help spitting some bars. Kendrick maybe had no idea, but he was being tested.

"Eminem said that he did it to test Kendrick because he thought he had a ghostwriter. He then realised that he didn’t after Kendrick proceeded to write a sick verse".

Kendrick might even have a career to owe to Eminem after revealing this in an interview:

"The clarity, I got my clarity just studying Eminem when I was a kid, how I got in the studio was all just curiosity. I had a love for the music, but it was curiosity."
