The hip-hop duo of Cheryl James (Salt) and Sandra Denton (Pepa), alongside third member Deidra "Spinderella" Roper paved the way for not only women in rap, but for all artists to create music that pushed boundaries. They became the first female MCs to win a Grammy Award, alongside Queen Latifah, and still hold the title for the best-selling album of all time by any female rap group with 1993’s Very Necessary.
“This upcoming star ceremony honouring Hip-Hop pioneers Salt-N-Pepa will honour the amazing 80s music we all love and so many grew up with!” expressed Walk of Fame Producer Ana Martinez in a statement.
Missy Elliott tweeted out her support, celebrating and welcoming the duo to the Walk of Fame.
