NRL players Aaron Gray and Dylan Walker have been hospitalsed after a drug overdose.
Ambulance NSW confirmed that the South Sydney players were taken to St Vincents Hospital in Sydney on Tuesday morning for an overdose and were in a critical condition.
South Sydney said in a statement: "Both players had post-season surgery last week, following the end of the Club's season, in preparation for pre-season training to commence later this year.
"The Club is keeping abreast of the situation and will not be making any further comment at this stage."
Dail Mail Australia reported one of players had a severe reaction to an unknown drug.
Walker's agent told Channel 9 News that the player had "some kind of reaction to the drugs oxycodeine and Tramadol".
Oxycodone and tramadol are both powerful painkillers often prescribed by doctors.
Walker, 20, played four games for Australia and made his NRL debut two years ago with Souths. He played a pivotal role in Souths' premiership success last year.
Gray, 21, made his first grade debut this season and scored seven tries in 12 matches, earning himself a new contract at Souths.
