DDot is returning to the stage which he debuted on in the early 2000s in support of a new initiative to revive Aotearoa’s live music scene.
The iconic Kiwi rapper will perform at Galatos on September 26th, the same stage he performed his "first ever live show". And it's all to support a great cause.
Fans can attend with a koha at the door, with all proceeds going directly to cover Galatos' running costs, which have risen by 30% over the past year.
David Dallas is the first "Venue Veteran" in a new initiative where Kiwi musicians will perform at the venues that helped launch their careers.
The program spearheaded by Tiger Beer and Sniffers Dan Woolston, brings iconic Kiwi musicians back to the stages where their careers began, aiming to revive appreciation for these vital spaces. According to their research, 75% of NZ small-to-medium hospitality providers have been going through tough times.
Galatos is just one of many venues across Aotearoa that have struggled to stay open due to the cost of living in recent years.
“My first show at Galatos was a game-changer for me,” Dallas recalls. “If you don't have these venues then you're missing this valuable step which helps you become a better artist and a better performer. You can't just go from your bedroom to a massive venue, it doesn't work like that."
"I had that support, those places to first get in front of people – and I see how beneficial it was for me, throughout my career from the start till now – so we need to preserve those venues for generations to come.”
RSVP now at TigerVenueVeterans.RSVPIFY.com for a chance to attend the event.
Spaces are limited, and entry is by koha donation, with 100% of proceeds supporting Galatos’ operations.
