The biggest fight in UFC history was also the fastest title fight ever, as Conor McGregor knocked Jose Aldo to the canvas with one punch inside 13 seconds.

The Irishman's left hook ended the fight in brutal fashion, and the world was left marvelling at the drama it had just witnessed.

Knockouts don't just happen. From a technical aspect it was poor shot selection from Aldo. A short right to a lunging left hook is one of the most dangerous combinations attacking a southpaw. He made a fundamental error as he "bow and arrowed" his guard exposing his chin. Conor identified the right hand was short and drew backwards creating the dominant angle with his lead foot inside of Aldo's taking away from Aldo's left hook nullifying any power he had in the strike. This set up a well placed short left hand for McGregor. Conor's best weapon is by far his left hand having all of his UFC finishes coming from this same attack. It was technical error for Aldo and his team.
