Global online retailer boohoo.com collaborated with Charli XCX to create a Christmas capsule collection inspired by the British singer’s love of the 90’s.
Echoing classic movie references such as the cutesy kilts of Clueless and gothic drama from The Craft in the 90’s, the limited edition range showcases Charli’s trademark sassiness with doses of fun and femininity.
Drawing on her art college experience, Charli pulled together initial mood-boards focusing on pop culture from the past which have shaped her renowned look and sound today, touching on taffeta prom queens, disco divas, Beverly Hills princesses and punk rock feminists.
Having worked with boohoo’s in-house design team, Charli wanted the collection to not only applaud her past influences, but also incorporate her present and future style as a performer and fashion influencer.
Charli said: “I had so much fun designing pieces for the boohoo winter collection. I can't wait to get it out there and to wear it myself. It’s sparkly cute and sexy. I hope everyone loves it! “
Stand out pieces include a pink fondant bow skirt co-ord, gold bomber jacket and crushed velvet swing playsuits in jewel tones. Tartan slip dresses and a leopard bomber set continue to touch on the decade which made teenage culture a talking point.
Accessories are equally matched with the throwback theme - thigh high lace-up boots and ombre glitter platforms amp up the playful element of the range alongside pom-pom riding hats and candy coloured beanies. Faux fur stoles, oversized cuffs and velvet chokers bring a definitively glamorous end note – a trait of the woman herself.
Available exclusively at boohoo.com, the range launches on 26 October 2015 with apparel starting at $25, shoes $70, and accessories from $12.
