One Person In Critical Condition After "Explosion" In South Auckland

There are reports of a large explosion at a factory in South Auckland.

RadioLive has reported one person is in a critical condition after the explosion at an industrial site.

No emergency services could be reached for immediate comment, but the Fire Service send a tweet confirming the event.

"Fire Service is responding to reports of a large explosion involving fuel at a factory in Wiri," the tweet said.

It is understood police and St John ambulance are also responding to the incident on Bolderwood Place.

People in South Auckland have also reported on Twitter what they heard.

"Wow massive noise," said Jason Stone.

On a Manukau community Facebook group people reported hearing a "big bang".

One man said his house shook.

One woman said sirens were "going crazy" in the area and another can see smoke billowing into the sky from her home.

" Massive shake and boom in Hillpark... Heaps of sirens now," said Clare Scott.
