Kiwi Rapper PNC Shares Some Moving Words for His Late Mum

Kiwi musician Sam Hansen, aka PNC, has made a moving tribute to his mother after her death in a Feilding house fire.

"She was my mum, she was my dad, she was my best friend and she showed me the definition of unconditional love," Hansen was reported as saying as he farewelled Kathy Hansen at a funeral on Friday.

Kathy Hansen, a guidance counsellor, died in a house fire in Fielding on August 24. She was 69. The Manawatu Standard reported Hansen saying he was extremely close to his mother: "I felt like we were the same person, like we just were one soul".

He also said he might not have a career if it wasn't for her. "I never would have done [what I did] if it wasn't for her ... She gave up her life for me and she was happy if I was happy."

Sam Hansen is one of the country's most acclaimed MC's. His most recent work,The Luke Vailima EP, was released at the end of July.
