Hollywood superstars that were in New Zealand before they were worldwide stars

Our little old country is an amazing place! Not that we need convincing, we live here, however, we like to think that when given the chance we make a make a good impression!

It's not common knowledge to everyone but before some of Hollywoods biggest celebrities became some of the world's biggest hitters in entertainment, they had humble beginnings in New Zealand.

Jason Statham

The Fate of the furious and Expendables star was actually a competitive diver before he took on a career in acting. As a result, in 1990, the Commonwealth games was hosted in Auckland and low and behold there was Mr. Statham representing England in diving.

 The Rock

There can't be too many places in the world that don't know who Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is! Those exact people wouldn't know that he once called New Zealand home! After being born in California, The Rock and his family ended up in Auckland, where he played rugby and confessed that it is the hardest sport he's played!

Ryan Gosling 

Before the Gos was singing and dancing to Oscar-nominated films and making the ladies hearts melt in The Notebook, Ryan Gosling actually lived in New Zealand when he was playing Young Hercules in a New Zealand made tv show, actually living for 2 years!!

Hercules was the television series that kept on giving for New Zealand. Some may forget or not even had realised that before her All McBeal and Charlie's Angels days, Lucy appeared in the New Zealand made Hercules alongside Kevin Sorbo. She found herself in New Zealand for the production of that.
