The Vodafone New Zealand Warriors have made a massive announcement for 2018!

The Warriors have announced that Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will take over the captaincy duties for 2017 while Melbourne Storm and Kiwi's star Tohu Harris has signed on for 2018.

The appointment of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck as Warriors captain is a left field move - but there are plenty of reasons to be positive about the decision.

At first glance it is a surprise, as the former Roosters fullback wasn't on anyone's list of possible contenders.

But dig a little deeper and the move has merit.

The capture of Tohu Harris is a significant signing. He'll be a ready-made replacement for Hoffman and has the best years of his career ahead of him. Though some players have struggled to perform outside the Storm system, they'll be no such concerns about the ultra- consistent Harris.
