In celebration of Mother's Day, the first teaser trailer for Dear Mama, a new docuseries about the relationship between Tupac and his mother Afeni Shakur has dropped.

From Emmy Award-nominated director Allen Hughes (The Defiant Ones) comes a five-part series exploring two voices that could not be silenced - hip hop G.O.A.T Tupac and his mother, activist Afeni Shakur.

Told through the eyes of the people who knew them best, Dear Mama is an intimate wide-angle portrait of the most inspiring and dangerous mother-son duo in American history.

The docuseries will explore both of their voices as they worked within two very different generations, joined together by their pursuit of freedom, equality, and escape from persecution.

Dear Mama is named after Tupac's song of the same title. The song explores his relationship with his mum and serves as a tribute to all of the hardships she went through in raising him including her crack-cocaine addiction.

Both Afeni and Tupac have passed away. Tupac died in 1996, the year after releasing Dear Mama and Afeni Shakur passed away in 2016 #RIL

Dear Mama will premiere on FX later this year. As always, once we get an official release date and platform you can stream it on Aotearoa, we will let you know!
