Issac Luke Set To Sign With The Warriors

The Warriors are reportedly on the verge of pulling off one of the biggest signings in the club's history.

The Sydney Morning Herald claims Kiwis hooker Issac Luke is set to seek a release from the South Sydney Rabbitohs and is in advanced talks with the Warriors.

A deal supposedly could be announced in days.

After recently snaring Sydney Roosters fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, signing Luke would arguably be the biggest recruitment coup for the Warriors since luring Steve Price and Ruben Wiki to New Zealand in 2005.

Last year Luke told the Herald on Sunday it would be great to play in New Zealand.

"I have a lot to think about. It would be great to come home one day but at the moment my focus is on performing for the Rabbitohs".

"It's definitely something to think about," Luke said the Warriors' interest last May. "I need to see what Souths come up with then I have to make a decision ... it could be soon, it could be in a few months, or it could be next year."

The Warriors also pursued Luke in 2011, before he eventually re-signed a lucrative deal with the Rabbitohs. He has some history with the Warriors, having visited the club as a promising 15-year-old with his father, before eventually being lured across the Tasman, first to Belmore then Redfern.

Luke has played 176 NRL matches since joining Souths in 2007 and won the prestigious John Sattler Medal in 2010 as the club's best and fairest player.
