Fat Freddy's Drop mourns founder Christopher 'Mu' Faiumu's passing

Christopher Ta'aloga Faiumu, founder and member of the band Fat Freddy's Drop, has died suddenly.
Faiumu, also known as “DJ Mu” and “DJ Fitchie”, was remembered as a gracious person and a talented musician
Fat Freddy's Drop, a seven-piece band from Wellington, formed in 1999 and became one of New Zealand's most successful contemporary bands.They blended various music genres, including reggae, soul, jazz, rhythm and blues, rock, disco, and house.
Faiumu's band members paid tribute to him on Facebook, calling him the “star by which we navigated across the sea”
Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister Paul Goldsmith expressed sadness at Faiumu's passing and extended condolences to his family and friends. Mark Vanilau and Solomon Smith of Christchurch arts space Th'Orchard also acknowledged Faiumu's death and described him as a lovely and gracious host.
