Drive-in cinemas are making a comeback and we can’t wait for them to get rolling.

The Night Flicks Drive-In Cinema Tour will bring special drive-in movie theatres to cities across New Zealand.

The movies are set to launch very soon and will comply with Level 2 criteria.

So how does it all work? Simply watch the movie from your car and tune the radio to the special frequency they set up to play the movie’s audio. From there, you can watch the handpicked movie on the giant screen.

With dates and times still being finalised, the drive-in cinemas are set to pop in Whangarei, Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Timaru and Invercargill with the possibility of further cities yet to be added.

Night Flicks director Matt O’Meeghan says "we found ourselves in a unique position to be able to offer an event that ensures attendee safety as well as something for the public to look forward to once we are able to go ahead."

Kiwis are able to pre-register for tickets now to secure their spot. Vehicles will have a limit of four passengers. General admission and outdoor seating options are unfortunately not available.

Follow Night Flicks on Facebook for all updates date changes and how the service will work with level 2 restrictions.
