As the weekend is upon us, questionable choices are going to made and plenty of alcohol consumed.

And whilst you may think it's all fine and dandy whilst you're off your face, the next morning can be hellish.

So how do you get all the fun, without the killer hangover?

Unfortunately, there's no way of preventing a hangover (except for not drinking alcohol, of course) but there are two simple things that can help remedy that upset stomach and throbbing head: sports drink and chicken-noodle soup.

Physiologist in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Wisconsin–Madison Medical School, Kevin Strang, PhD., spoke to Buzzfeed revealing why these two things are scientifically best for your hangover.

Strang says you shouldn't just chug water because the alcohol in your system blocks a hormone that tells your kidneys how much water you should lose when you pee, so it'll basically just pass straight through.

These two things are able to deliver much-needed salt, sugar and water to the system. Strang explained that dehydration and low blood sugar is what makes you feel so terrible.

Salts and sugars are what you get from the sports drink, while the soup delivers salt and B vitamins - which is found in meat and in chicken broth.

Vegetarian? Miso soup is a good alternative.

We know what we'll be ordering from Uber eats this weekend...
