Riverdale Kiwi hottie reveals relationship news you won't believe!

Being the lead in a massively popular teen drama series has a lot of benefits, not least having hoards of the opposite sex fawning over you.

Which is why it has come as a total shock to the fans of Riverdale and its 20-year-old star KJ Apa that the fiery-haired actor has never had a girlfriend according to DailyMail.

In a new interview with Cosmopolitan.com, the New Zealand native opens up about his love life, revealing that it is far less complicated than the love triangle that his character Archie Andrews struggles with on TV.

The reason? KJ claims that his skyrocketing career has left him too swamped to spend time on a real relationship.  

'I think I'm just waiting for the right time, right girl,' he told the publication. 'I'm pretty busy at the moment. I don't know how much I have to offer to someone right now.'

But beyond that it seems as though the handsome TV star also has his fair share of nerves when it comes to approaching the ladies, recounting in the interview a story of spotting a girl who 'stopped me in my tracks' and working up the guts to walk over.

However, even that encounter with a start so sweet lasted just two dates, with KJ reporting: 'It was really cool, really sick, had a great time… but didn’t really feel it.' 

The young leading man is surrounded by a bevvy of similarly attractive female stars on the set of Riverdale, but claims his number one celebrity crush is Jennifer Aniston.

As for his onscreen love life, KJ spoke in favour of the budding romance between Archie and rich girl Veronica Lodge. 

'I think after that first season of him bouncing from girl to girl, it's nice to see him in a proper, stable relationship. It's good for Archie,' he said. 

KJ also revealed that in the early days of shooting the popular CW series he would spend most of his time outside shooting at home working to memorize his lines, leading some of his costars to believe he didn't like them.

But the explanation, KJ said, is much simpler: people were struggling to understand his New Zealand accent in social situations and he was 'in my own zone.'
