Once Were Warriors Actor Brian Kairau has Died

Kiwi actor Brian Kairau best known for his role in film Once Were Warriors has died after a long battle with daibetes at age 52.
He played a member of Jake Heke's crew in the iconic movie, with his son Joseph playing the Heke children Huata in the film.
Brian Kairau's own story reflected that of Once Were Warriors with a tough up bringing in south Auckland then becoming a senior in the Black Power before finding religion and becoming a community worker.
