A New Zealand dancer says he experienced "one of the biggest shows of my life" while performing with Beyonce at Coachella.

The pop star headlined the three-day festival in Palm Springs, and her performance has been called one of the best of all time.

That's thanks to a team of dancers who took the stage, one of which was Kiwi Lance Savali.

Savali, from Wellington, took to Instagram to honour the occasion, declaring: "Tonight we made history".

Savali, 25, has also danced with Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and Chris Brown.

He told the Daily Mail that inspiration from those who said he'd never make it fuelled his desire to dance.

"I never wanted to give up because I wanted to show the people back home and everyone who told me I couldn't just be a dancer or who said I need a 'real job' that it is possible if you have the right drive and work ethic and knowledge," he said.
