Mitch James has won BIG at the MTV EMAs held in Bilbao, Spain this year.

The 21 hitmaker picked up the award for Best New Zealand Act at the MTV European Music Awards.

The EMAs acknowledge acts from around the world, including one each from New Zealand and Australia each year.

That means that he beat out fellow Kiwi nominees, Robinson, Thomston, and other huge names like Stan Walker and Kimbra.

Mitch James took to Instagram to post about his success and how grateful he was to his fans.
