Jennifer Hudson is reported to be set to play the late Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin in a biopic set to be released in 2020.

The film, which Deadline is reporting will be called "Respect", will apparently follow Aretha Franklin's journey from childhood singing in her fame preacher father's choir to her rise as an international superstar.

Acting isn't something new to Jennifer Hudson either, with the singer and actress starring in films including Dreamgirls, which she scored an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress back in 2007.

Aretha Franklin passed away back in August 2018, after a battle with pacreatic cancer.

She was 76.
