Cadbury is going through a major change and we're not sure people are going to like what's about to go down!

Us Kiwis already refuse to let Cadbury forget the closing of the Dunedin factory but we suspect the world aren't quite going to let them forget about this one. So clear off any guesses, they aren't losing their iconic purple or logo, no, by the end of the year Cadbury will be dropping the Fairtrade logo from their packaging.

Oh and if that's not quite a hard enough pill to swallow, some of their products have already been adjusted to suit their new agreement. It's been reported that they have replaced the globally known and trusted Fairtrade brand with 'Cocoa Life', a product owned by their parent company Mondelez.

Although Cadbury insist that they'll be replicating much of the Fairtrade initiatives, it's not all doom and gloom as such, Cadbury will remain a parter with the Fairtrade.

The boss of Fairtrade New Zealand and Australia left these final words for other companies looking at going their own way:

"If at any point, any company we're working with starts to think they can grade their own homework and hide behind a fair washing plan to confuse the public we will call it out and alert consumers."
