‘To Live & Die in AD’ is a collaboration between two of Avondale’s favourite sons in Tom Scott (Avantdale Bowling Club, Home Brew, @Peace, Average Rap Band) and MELODOWNZ.

Produced by choicevaughan and originally intended for his collaborative EP Deuce, the gospel inspired instrumental provides the perfect backdrop for the pair of lyricists to trade lines on the passion they have for the suburb that raised them.

Tom says of ‘To Live & Die in AD’, “this song is important to me for obvious reasons. It's a timestamp on a place that I hold extremely dear. A place I walk through everyday. We wanted to try make an anthem for that place. I know people probably sick of me and Bron rapping about it by now but I'm sorry, this is just what came out when we got together. Hope it gives anyone from any small town or neighbourhood around the country some pride for where they're from.”

choicevaughan is a Wellington-based producer hailing from both the far north and the east coast of Aotearoa. Equally at home flipping, looping or chopping samples into new creations, his smooth production style is rich in texture and soul alike.

Drawing heavily from the genres of jazz, funk, soul and RnB, his sample-influenced interpretations are often layered with keys, horns, synths and strings, providing both his collaborators and listeners with a tapestry of sound to explore.

‘To Live & Die in AD’ is now available on all digital platforms to complete the release of Deuce.
