Ever since it was announced that Zac Efron was cast as Ted Bundy for Netflix’s new true crime movie, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile the world has been keeping an eye on the release of the new show.
The series revolves around the serial murderer during the time of Ted Bundy's trial in the 1980s and delves into his relationship with Liz Kendall.
The film is based on the book The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy by Elizabeth Kendall Bundy’s long-time girlfriend – played by To The Bone actress Lily Collins – who refused to believe the horrifying truth about him for years.
Fans on YouTube noted how surprised they were to see Zac Efron take on such a dark acting role.
"Who would have thought Zac would go from High School Musical to Ted Bundy in his career?," one person commented.
"I am never going to see Troy Bolton the same," another added, referring to Disney character that helped launch Zac’s career.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile was released on Netflix in New Zealand on Friday, May 3.
