The internet is reeling over a massively public falling out between reality TV stars Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna, but the whole situation is actually pretty grim.

Kardashian has broken Californian law and has been accused of breaking another after Chyna alleged he beat her. He's slut-shamed his ex-fiancee and the mother of his child, and says he "hopes" his daughter will see it all some day.

According to the New York Post, California - where Kardashian and Chyna live - has a revenge porn (cyber exploitation) law and has done since 2013.

The crime is described as "the non-consensual distribution and publication of intimate photos or videos...These photos or videos are then posted on websites or sold for profit to humiliate, degrade, harass, physically endanger, or extort the victim" - which Kardashian has done.

He also accused Chyna of buying and taking drugs, and tried to slut-shame her for allegedly cheating with other men.

And it turns out, this is kind of Kardashian's M.O.

In December 2012, he went on a Twitter tirade against his ex Rita Ora, referring to her has "Rita Whora" and accusing her of cheating on him with 20 men.

He wrote: "I'm actually disgusted a woman could give up her body to more than 20 dudes in less than a year's time while trying to start a career."

But that's not all; Chyna has taken to Snapchat alleging Kardashian "beat me up and tried to act like it never happened".

She wrote: "You put hands on me, I swear on God... but I'm supposed to be quiet because you're a Kardashian".

And here's the worst part; these two have a daughter together who - thanks to the nature of the internet - could easily uncover all of this darkness when she's older.

But Kardashian says: "All of you may think my daughter may see this one day and I hope she does because this ain't love."

Oddly, two of the other big celebrity news stories of the day are about how Ed Sheeran is steering clear of Twitter, and how Taylor Swift didn't throw her usual Instagram-friendly Fourth of July party.

Is it any wonder celebrities are steering clear of social media when this it can harbour this type of darkness?
