Rising rap star Chance the Rapper says he'll perform in New Zealand for the very first time during his world tour later this year.

The Chicago-based 23-year-old made the admission during his recent Beats1 radio interview with Zane Lowe.

It's news that will likely make followers of the 'Bring Chance the Rapper to NZ'Facebook page very happy.

Chance has been making waves since dropping his acclaimed mixtape Acid Rap in 2013.

He followed that up with a high profile apprearance on Kanye West's The Life of Pablo earlier this year, and his new mixtape Coloring Book.

He didn't specify a date for his first New Zealand show, but Consequence of Sound reported his world tour would kick off in September.

Coloring Book has been extremely well received by critics, with The AV Club saying it "delivered one celebratory hymnal after another".

Entertainment Weekly said it "affirmed Chance's place as one of hip-hop's most promising - and most uplifting - young stars".
