New Zealand customers have fallen victim to a billing issue with Netflix. Some users have been overcharged for their accounts with one woman being changed 21 times her usual fee. Olivia Flack was charged $314.79, instead of the usual 14.99 which is automatically debited from her account.

The extra charges went out on November 8, she reported them to Netflix as soon as she noticed them.

Flack said the company's call centre operator told her it was part of a "widespread New Zealand issue."

In a statement the company has claimed the problem is resolved.

“A small number of Netflix members in New Zealand experienced multiple charges on their account," the statement said.

"Affected customers are being issued refunds."

According to Flack she hasn't yet been refunded.

She has made four calls to the company in the past two weeks but the extra $300 was yet to be paid back to her account, and she wasn't given a timeframe on how long it would take, she said.

"I'm pretty unimpressed. It's put us into overdraft so there's the bank fees and all the rest of it.

"I'm a bit p...ed off to be honest."

In May 2015 Netflix issued a public apology over a similar over-charging error.

At the time multiple complaints were posted to the company's social media pages, including one user who was billed 11 times.

If you are a Netflix user it might be worth checking your bank statement just to be sure.
